"content": " Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I support the Petition by Hon. Jessica Mbalu. In fact, this House has a responsibility, under Article 95 of the Constitution, to resolve issues that are of concern to the people of Kenya. This is the National Assembly. I plead with the Committee handling this matter. Human-Wildlife conflict is a fundamental issue that needs to be addressed. People who reside in areas that border or are near national parks suffer a lot. The question is: Between wild animals and human beings, who is more important? Wildlife is important but if I am given a choice between the life of a wild animal and that of a human being, I would go for the life of a human being. You find that as a country, it is like we are putting too much premium on the life of wild animals. They kill our people. Those who are close to the national parks are not even allowed to take their livestock there for grazing. Just the other day, I was in Mheshimiwa ole Metito’s constituency of Kajiado South in an area called Rombo. I was there with his permission, of course. He is my friend. While I was there, you could see the people are so desperate. They were talking about elephants killing people and there is no action being taken.
