In the current Parliament, he served as a Member of the Constitutional Implementation Oversight Committee and the Procedure and House Rules Committee. He also served as one of the founders and Chairperson of the Parliamentary Caucus on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Hon. Senators, before joining the National Assembly in 2013, the late Hon. Okoth started his career as a Resident Director in 2001 at St. Lawrence University, Canton, New York, USA. Between 2003 and 2004, he served as a History Instructor at the Friends School of Baltimore. He served as a lecturer of African Studies at Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, between 2005 and 2008. He also served as the Executive Director for the Children of Kibera Foundation, Washington, DC, USA and Nairobi between 2007 and 2012; and as a Resident Director at the University of Dar es Salaam Study Centre. The late Hon. Okoth was a firm leader who never shied away from defending the rights of his constituents and the people of Kenya in general.
