Temporary Deputy Speaker, for this opportunity to contribute to the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (Amendment) Bill of 2019 sponsored by our colleague, Hon. Joyce Emanikor. It could not have come at a better time than this as we prepare for the large enrolment primary and secondary schools as we prepare to fully roll out the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) that ensures 100 per cent transition from early childhood all the way to the last level before joining tertiary education. We are cognisant of the fact KICD is the body mandated to develop, review and accredit curricula that are taught in various institutions in this country. It is, therefore, important that their mandate is expanded to delve on matters of disaster preparedness and disaster management because it is becoming an emotive and critical issue in most of our schools in this country.
