"content": "now, there are floods, hunger, inaccessibility and all manner of problems which results in people suffering. They get hungry because they cannot access food. This has been happening on and off for the last 50 years. Every time when there are these problems, we complain here in both Houses of the Senate and the National Assembly, year in, year out, yet nothing happens. The national Government does not have any disaster mitigation action. Actually there are no policies or plans. The National Drought Management Authority (NDMA) has been there for the last 20 years. We do not know what it does. Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I would like this Committee to look into this issue seriously. There is also the Special Programmes Docket in the Office of the President. I do not know what they do. A lot of money is misused being put into these issues and nothing happens to those people who suffer in those rural areas. Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir."
