"content": "incitement to violence, disruption of the voting exercise, assault, electoral offenses and breach of Elections Code of Conduct, are addressed without fail and punished. Any breach of the Electoral Code of Conduct by political parties needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency by the IEBC in tackling these issues that continue to undermine the confidence of the citizenry. Additionally, the laws put in place should be applied and strictly complied with. Laws such as International Crimes Act, 2008 and Freedom of Information Act facilitate investigation and prosecution of crimes against humanity as well as enabling state and non-state actors to have full access to information, which may lead to arrests, detention and prosecution of persons responsible for gross violations. Mr. Speaker Sir, moreover, it is the civic duty of every voter to shun any violence that may be impelled by politicians. In addition, the Government ought to have a deliberate plan in place to address the country’s history of electoral violence, electoral misconducts and divisive politics that have jeopardized the spirit of oneness, unity and our democracy. I thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir."
