I rise to ask Question 469/2019 to the CS for Health: (i) Could the Cabinet Secretary explain why the country is experiencing shortages of Nevirapine, a drug used to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV/AIDS? (ii) What steps is the Ministry taking to safeguard the lives of new-born babies, who are at a threat of contracting the HIV virus and are highly dependent on this drug? (iii) What mitigation measures has the Ministry put in place to ensure that there is no disruption in the provision of healthcare services in the country due to a shortage of Nevirapine and other drugs?"
