    "content": "In Kenya, we still allow the importation of vehicles, some of them as old as eight years. As the vehicle gets older, the emissions also get higher. Most countries are looking for markets to dump these vehicles because after a certain period, the emissions become higher and, therefore, they become a big danger to the environment. We, therefore, require the necessary legislation to ensure that we have the proper guidelines to ensure that even as we develop our industries and our factories, we have a future that we can rely on. It is worth noting that the United National Environmental Programme (UNEP) Headquarters is right here in Nairobi. Further to that, we should also remember that one of our own, Prof. Wangari Maathai, was actually the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize because of her contribution to the environment. It is, therefore, incumbent upon us to ensure that we come up with the right legislation to support the country and ensure that we have a cleaner and safer environment for the country to be able to develop as we wish."
