    "content": "Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for also giving me this chance to support this Statement. Yesterday, I was shocked when I saw how four pupils who were coming from school were killed by torrents of rain and floods in Wajir County. It is also interesting that since four months ago, the Meteorological Department has been talking about heavy rains ahead of us. Despite that warning, disaster preparedness in this country has never worked. We have been talking here for almost three months about disaster preparedness and management in this country. Beginning next week, our pupils in primary schools will be sitting for their examinations. Yesterday, I saw parents in Kirinyaga County helping children to cross seasonal rivers that have been caused by heavy rains. How long will those parents continue escorting their children to and pick them from school instead of looking for food for them? I urge the Committee that will take up this issue to ask the Cabinet Secretary concerned about the strategies that have been put in place to ensure our children sit for The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposesonly.
