"content": "As much as we thought that the national and county leaders will have problems with degazettement, on the contrary, they all agreed that it is important the land be given to the beneficiaries. Indeed, they are already living there. There are fears being expressed by Hon. Members. However, we were told that the beneficiaries will be the people already living on that piece of land. So, the opportunity for other people to misuse or grab land will be very minimal. We also realised that there is quite some investment by the national and county government. Hon. Mbadi felt that this may not be a strong point. However, according to our judgement as a joint committee and also arising from the visit by some of our Members, we noted that there is a lot of investment. This was done because there was a plan to resettle those people. It is totally different from the upper area where there is no electricity and roads. You cannot compare that with the lower areas where degazetting is being proposed."
