"content": "(Prof. Saitoti): Thank you very much, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. On the outset, I would like to commend the Chairman of this Committee because it has come out with a lot of information, right from tracing the cause of organized criminal gangs all the way to the various measures that can be formulated to address the problem that we have. I appeared before this Committee to explain the Governmentâs position. I explained my Ministryâsâ understanding of the nature of those problems. The key emphasis which I made is that those criminal gangs are not something which you can wish away. If we do not handle this situation carefully, it can undermine the stability of this country both politically and economically. That is the most important thing for us to do."
