    "content": "The ASAL areas supply 80 per cent of the meat consumed in the country. In every other meal we take there is a meat product. This shows the level of contribution by ASAL areas since almost 70 per cent of Kenya is occupied by the ASAL people and their livestock. The thrust of this Bill is about marketing of livestock and livestock products. If we just take an example of one country to the North called Djibouti, its port is largely sustained by export of livestock and livestock products. They are able to get livestock from Ethiopia, Northern Kenya and parts of Somalia and this is what runs that port."
