"content": "The British have not changed their system, but we keep on copying and changing. The 8- 4-4 system has done very well. I am a product of the 8-4-4 system and we do very well in American, Canadian and Australian universities and all over the world. Our students have done very well which means we were prepared very well. The high school I went to was first in Kenya in 1992. Most of my classmates became very successful surgeons and pilots. I meet them all over the world as very successful people having scored very well in the 8-4-4 system, which means that it was a success. What seems to have gone wrong was the overloading of students. In those days, I could even score 99 per cent in history, geography and mathematics. Today, I wonder why students do not get As. Something definitely needs to be done so that we can have better education. It cannot be done upside down. In this Sessional Paper, things have been done upside down. The education system has already been implemented illegally. It is only that no one has gone to court to stop it. We are thinking of it. It has been implemented illegally. It is a good thing, but it should be rectified through this House once this Sessional Paper goes through. Public participation should be done, so that every Kenyan has an opportunity to participate in this event which will prepare Kenyans for the future."
