    "content": "Mr. Speaker Sir, pursuant to Standing Order No.48 (1), I rise to seek a Statement from the Standing Committee on National Security, Defence and Foreign Relations on the provision of immigration services to Kenyans in the northern Kenya region. In the statement the Committee should- (1) State whether there have been put in place measures to improve the provision of immigration services, particularly the issuance of passports to Kenyans residing in Garissa and other towns in northern Kenya, following the closure in 2015 of the Immigration offices in Garissa. (2) Give reasons why Kenyans in northern Kenya have to travel over 1,000 kilometers to Nairobi for passport processing, whereas some regions have short distances to travel, like Nakuru, Eldoret, Kisii, and Kisumu. (3) State the measures being put in place to streamline the services offered by the State Department for Immigration to ease the burden of travelling to Nairobi, especially The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposesonly.
