    "content": "Madam Temporary Speaker, I intent to make a very brief Statement regarding the activities of the County Public Accounts and Investments Committee (CPAIC) here in Kitui. We had scheduled to interogate the books of accounts of three counties while here in Kitui. On Tuesday, 16th September, 2019, we had scheduled to interrogate Kitui County Governemnt. With the wisdom of the leadership of the House, the appoinmtnet with Kitui was deferred. In place of Kitui, the Senate invited the Governor of Nyeri. The Committee considered that situation and found it to be inappropriate for us to come to Kitui without discussing issues to do with Kitui. We, therefore, requested the Governor of Nyeri to go back to Nyeri, so that we could give him another date. We took the opportunity to meet with the Public Accounts Committee of Kitui County Assembly. It needs to be on record that the Governor of Kitui did not appear because we did not issue proper invitation to her. On the 17th which was a Wednesday, we were scheduled to meet the Governor of Machakos County. He sent a letter to the Committee where he indicated that he suspected that the Senator of Machakos County has mobilised goons to heckle and humiliate him when he appeared before the CPAIC."
