"content": "Further, a look at similar matters in the Commonwealth of Australia presents another insightful perspective for extricating the country from possible stalemate on such a Bill. Section 57 of the Constitution of Australia prescribes the procedure for resolving any irreconcilable disagreement between the two Houses. That procedure essentially involves the dissolution of both Houses of Parliament by the Governor-General, in what is commonly known as “double dissolution” in the event that the disagreement persists. This is followed by fresh elections for both the House of Representatives and the Senate. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only. Acertified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor."
