"content": "Let me say a few things about this Motion. As much as we want to pass the Motion, we support Hon. Amina Abdalla because many of us worked with her or have worked with her. I have worked with her in this Parliament for about ten years. We know she is competent, able and is very organised in her thinking and even in her work. We know that she is likely to do a good job. But I am worried about the people we give appointments to the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC). They appear very good at the point of vetting and approval but, the moment they get to the Commission, they completely forget about Parliament. In fact, they get into the Commission with the sole agenda of fighting Parliament in order to be seen to be working for Kenyans. I do not know where it is written that the only way to reduce the wage bill in this country is by attacking the remuneration of Members of Parliament and Parliament. The remuneration of Members of Parliament is an insignificant proportion of the wage Bill in this country. So, I ask the SRC to think outside the box.
