"content": " Thank you, Hon. Speaker. Ferries are an important mode of transport. The Coast, for instance, has had several incidences one of which is the tragedy that happened in Kilifi in 1978 and the one that happened in Mtongwe. In all these, we have lost lives that could have been saved if there were safety measures in place. Today, the ferries that ply the Likoni Channel have always posed a threat to the people of the Coast and visitors. There are two things that happened. One, the carnage that we had when the ferries caused accidents. There was a time when a lorry could not go forward and it started reversing"
