"content": "When the wheels of justice roll, who powers them? Let me say without fear of contradiction that the court in Malindi has never delivered justice to the local person. Why? Because the local people cannot have a good lawyer because they cannot afford to pay. They cannot pay for the court charges. So, all the land cases that go to the courts, especially the one in Malindi, the local people or peasants lose them. Why do they lose them? They do not lose them because the land does not belong to them, but because of the processes and the costs. The guy with a flamboyant lawyer that can pay the highest cost gets his things done. But the people lose. Let me reiterate what Hon. Otiende Amollo has said, the justice system needs not only to be for the people that have money or people who can afford to pay a smart lawyer, but for everybody. When we sing: “Justice be our shield and defender” in this country, we mean the words of the National Anthem as we seek justice in the country."
