    "content": "At one level, if we think about the Judiciary as a wholesome institution in this Republic, it is critically essential for curbing the excesses of power. One reason we have the Judiciary as an independent arm comes from the old saying that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. So, one of the responsibilities of the Judiciary is to curb excesses of institutionalised power like that of the Executive. There is also power in our societies where the well to do can have their way no matter how. The Judiciary is to help to curb such excesses; institutional and social excesses, that occur because we are not of equal strength within society.
