    "content": "Sen. Dullo said elsewhere that she was among the young ladies who were given the opportunity to serve in provincial administration in President Moi’s time. Mr. Speaker, Sir, we have people like Sen. Wako, the Attorney-General. We have Sen. Khaniri who is wearing his old Kenya African National Union (KANU) tie today. I am sure he was given when President Moi went to campaign for him as a young man to come to this House. Since then, Sen. Khaniri has not left this House from the day President Moi wore his gumboots to go and campaign for him in his Khamisi Constituency. Sen. Wetangula, a very close friend of the former President who was nominated to Parliament and since then he has been the highest maybe with a break of one term. We have so many people here who are a true testimony, including Sen. Orengo who by virtue of pursuing alternative policies during Moi’s days made his name and made contribution to the leadership of this country. Mr. Speaker, Sir, the late President Moi was a true mentor and he helped many people. Even in the business sector, he mentored many people, including Sen. (Eng.) Maina who always reminds me every day that the real Government was when President Moi was in office. I do not mean that he is demeaning all other Governments, but he says the authority of presidency was felt when President Moi was in office. Mr. Speaker, Sir, if anything is going to be written about President Moi’s mentorship and leadership, President Uhuru Kenyatta is the true testimony that President Moi saw leadership in, believed in him and he lived to see President Kenyatta being the President of Kenya. In fact, I was with President Moi in Kimalel when President Kenyatta came and he said - I will say in Kiswahili - “ Niliwambia siku ile nili chaguaUhuru, si sasa imekua namna hiyo?.” Therefore, it is a show of his mentorship and identification of talent and people who have skills in particular areas. The third thing I want to say is that President Moi was a nationalist. You may have issues about how he handled the State in terms of those who had dissenting views, but in terms of his faith and belief in Kenya and the fact that we must all fight tribalism, President Moi was not a tribalist.
