    "content": " Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for the opportunity to support this Bill about the old people in our society. These are very important people because most of them fought for the Independence of this country and they have always desired to eat the fruits of the freedom. Unfortunately, these people go through a lot of problems. Many of them are sick. Others have to be taken out to bask in the sun. Others go hungry without food. Those of us who are here can confirm to you that they keep coming to us seeking for help from the Government. We have so many of them who are old enough to receive the stipend from Government, but they do not. This is a very important Bill and we wish to urge the Government to consider paying these people on a monthly basis. We believe the Government is capable of doing that as it pays its employees on a monthly basis. It can make arrangements and make the money available on a monthly basis instead of having the elderly go out every other time to camp at market centres waiting for a four months’ stipend. I support the Bill. Thank you."
