Deputy Speaker, Section 6(1)(c) of the Media Council Act provides that one of the functions of this Commission is to facilitate resolution of disputes between the Government and the media, public and the media and intra-media. The Media Commission created under Section 27 of the Act performs this function. The term of the previous Commission expired on 6th September 2019, pursuant to which the Cabinet Secretary commenced and completed the process of identifying membership of the new commission. It is not clear whether the CS sought the advice of the State Corporation Advisory Committee, but he prepared an appropriate Gazette Notice for publication. However, for reasons only known to him, this Gazette Notice was never published and he has not taken any further steps to facilitate its publication. The functions of this Commission and other commissions under his docket can, therefore, not be exercised hence a pile up of unresolved complaints. Hon.
