    "content": " Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for this opportunity to issue a Statement of condolence on the demise of the late Hon. Kimani Wanyoike, former Member of Parliament for Kinangop and Kipipiri - the defunct Nyandarua South Constituency. Hon. Speaker, I wish to make a Statement regarding the demise of a veteran politician and former Member for Nyandarua South - current Kinangop and Kipipiri constituencies. The late Hon. Kimani Wanyoike passed on while undergoing treatment in Nairobi. The late Hon. Kimani Wanyoike had an illustrious career as a vocal trade unionist and a politician. It will be remembered that Hon. Wanyoike ran for Presidency in 1997 on the Forum for the Restoration of Democracy-People (FORD-People) ticket. The late Hon. Wanyoike was a charismatic, patriotic and dedicated numeral of his years, to the service of Nyandarua South Constituency and the nation at large. Kenyans will also remember him as one of the heroes who selflessly fought for multi-partyism, ushering the country into unprecedented spheres of democracy. He served for nine years as a Member of Parliament for Nyandarua South Constituency, later to be named Kinangop and Kipipiri constituencies in Nyandarua District. On behalf of the National Assembly, the people of Kinangop Constituency and, indeed, on my own behalf, I convey our sincere condolences to his family, friends and the people of the larger Nyandarua County for this great loss. May his soul rest in eternal peace."
