The employers have been urged to advise workers to take leave with half pay or unpaid leave. However, the only real way of cushioning them is through the Wage Subsidy Fund and such provisions. Some Kenyans need their visas to be extended; some have acquired citizenship, and therefore, can get health and social security benefits and many do not have valid work permits. Today, I am using Sen. Kihika as an example, that she was in the US for a long time and she will tell you that most Kenyans there do not even want to be registered by the Embassy because they will be brought back. They are there illegally, but still they are our people."
