  • 31 May 2018 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, let me proceed. I do not want interruption. It is on record, I am privileged and I can talk mountains in this House because I have been elected by the people of Machakos to represent them fully. We know instances where even doctors leave needles in patients’ bodies while others are accused of stealing human organs so that someone can get money. It is a shame. This country is corrupt. I do not even know whether the blood of Jesus is enough to cleanse the sins of this country. Today, His Excellency the President said that a ... view
  • 31 May 2018 in Senate: Who will watch the watchdogs or watchmen? We have a problem. It is not enough for Members of Parliament just to debate and wish away the problem. We must find solutions. Kenyans are out there watching us and want Members of Parliament to rise to the occasion and fight for them. Otherwise, this country will face a revolution. People will say that they are not going to pay taxes only for the money to be stolen. Even our people will think that we are thieves. When we drive cars, they will think we bought them using their money. It is ... view

  • 31 May 2018 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, it is a very sad day for this country. I beg to second Sen. Mwaura’s Motion. view
  • 17 May 2018 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, I thank you for spotting me. I have been waiting for a while. I take this opportunity once again to support this adjournment to enable hon. Senators to fully participate in the oncoming Legislative Summit in Mombasa. A lot has been said this afternoon, regarding the happenings or shortcomings at the county levels, but one thing we have forgotten is that what we are fighting is a common enemy known as governors. If I was to do a book, I would do one entitled, “ TheAnatomy and Arrogance of Governors in Kenya .” if these governors were ... view
  • 17 May 2018 in Senate: I am not an orbiter and I am not off the curve. At the opening of my remarks, I said that if governors were reasonable in this country, our work would be very easy. I hope he is not sleeping there. view
  • 17 May 2018 in Senate: I am sorry if I have offended my brother Sen. Poghisio. I withdraw and apologise to that extent but not what I said about the governors. Let me say two things then I will sit down. I am a Member of the Committee on Finance and Budget and I think the Ward Development Fund has sent shivers down the spine of the governors because according to them, if funds are released to wards, MCAs will duplicate the duties but that is not the point. The point is that the essence of devolution, like everyone has said here, is that resources ... view
  • 16 May 2018 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I take this opportunity to welcome Carmel Girls Secondary School, Machakos County, where I am the Senator. Yesterday, I welcomed another school from Matungulu Sub-County. I understand that Carmel Girls is located in Mwala Sub-County where I was born. I appreciate the role of one of the pioneer priests, Fr. Kalei from Kerala, India. He was the brainchild behind the establishment of the chain of schools. I love this school because it has kept their flag high in performance. As we always say, these students and others are the future leaders. So, let their visit here ... view
  • 15 May 2018 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am sorry for coming in late after you had recognised one of the schools from my county, Machakos. I take this opportunity, as the Senator for Machakos County, to welcome one of the schools from my county known as Sengani Girls Secondary School. For those who do not know, it is situated in the sub- county of Matungulu, Machakos County. Their visit to the Senate today is a learning experience of how one of the three arms of Government – the Legislature – functions. When they go back to school, they can read about our roles ... view
  • 15 May 2018 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I take this opportunity to send my condolences to the people of Nakuru County. I also congratulate the Senator for Nakuru County, Sen. Kihika, for the work that she has been doing. God bless her. I have seen the former Member of Parliament for Subukia, hon. Koigi wa Wamwere say that he has given a lot of warnings about similar dams which are about to burst. I hope that the relevant bodies will take that seriously. Disasters of this magnitude in law are not different. I saw the owner of the dam say that it was ... view
