  • 15 Jun 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for this opportunity. We had a grand performance in this House. I have heard you in particular do things that people did not expect you to do. Personally, I know you well. You were two years ahead of me at the university. I appeared before you when you were a magistrate as a State Counsel and as an advocate. We have come a long way together. When you were put in this position, I was very delighted. I knew we got a Speaker who was going to do wonderful things for this country. I would like ... view
  • 15 Jun 2017 in National Assembly: Finally, I want to thank the people of Hamisi for electing me for the first time. I started politics in 1988 and I never came to this Parliament until 2013. I remember at the university, you voted for me when I was a student leader. I appreciate that. I want to thank the people of Hamisi for bringing me to this House albeit for a short moment but I have done my best. For the first time in the history of development, in my constituency, we have a university. I ask them earnestly to think about re-electing me to this ... view

  • 18 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: I support the amendment but I do not see any problem in referring to the Governors as “His Excellency the Governor.” Let us not be selfish to ourselves because they are running an important institution and they should therefore be referred to as “His Excellency the Governor”. Thank you. view
  • 5 Dec 2013 in National Assembly: I do not think so, hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I have spoken in this Parliament before in your absence, when you were in London or yonder countries. I want to be very categorical on this one. I will not support this schedule. It is ambiguous, incongruous and ignoble. It has no basis because it has not taken into account the issue of inflation. We are aware that insurance companies take a long time to pay claims. The only language they understand is to get a judgment in the manner in which the practice is today. Two, the Chairman of the ... view
  • 13 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I want to add my voice to this debate by opposing this Bill. I do not want to say much. Many hon. Members have debated this Bill. I want to associate myself with their views. First, the Attorney-General of the Republic of Kenya who is the principal legal advisor, in his letter dated 1st February, 2013, advised against these amendments. In fact, in his recommendation, he says:- “I, therefore, suggest that, any possible overlap in the functions of the two offices ought to be resolved through constructive discussion within the Commission of which the ... view
  • 13 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, there is an apparent go slow in the police force. This is information from the grapevine and I have a letter here from the Deputy Inspector General. He says as follows--- view
