  • 24 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: The other important thing is that if you look at the United States of America (USA), which is one of the greatest markets for futures, there are separate groups of brokers who deal with futures and stocks. There is a minor overlap and there are different regulators. If you look at the security exchange of the USA, you will find that it is very different from the futures exchange of the US. I am not sure that we have done the separation here because the only regulator we have is CMA. I think there will be some conflicts in terms ... view
  • 24 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: For example, if our clients will be running short of futures, then it will mean that in case of loses, the stocks will provide the way to pay oneself out of the shortcoming. However, if it is one, I think it is a bit difficult. view
  • 24 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, there are also issues with regard to clearing houses. Who is the clearing house here? Is it the Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE)? Those are the things that need to be clear. view
  • 9 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker, Sir. I rise to support the Motion simply because corruption is a terrible thing for our country. It is a vice which we should all fight. Having said so, for the few months I have been in the Jubilee Government, I have not had any doubt that our country is in the right direction in terms of fighting corruption. The two people who are leading this Government are committed Kenyans who are ready to fight corruption. I want to tell the hon. Members on the opposite side of the House, and others on this side who ... view
  • 9 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, that is why I am saying that those guys in the CORD Coalition should also have time to talk to those guys. They are wonderful human beings. You know what a laptop computer can do. You can call the laptop computer project a “bite” to taking electricity to places in the rural areas, which would otherwise not have seen electricity. That is one of the things that the laptop computer project will do. The programme envisaged by the President is that once laptop computers are taken to an area each year, that area shall be supplied ... view
  • 9 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Sometimes we may demonise things because we have not understood them. For that reason, I hope that the President will extend invitations for lunch to hon. Members in the CORD Coalition. view
  • 9 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: With those remarks, I beg to support. view
  • 3 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I was having a very good afternoon today until I saw the initials “ICC” on this Report. I want to commend the Committee for doing a good job. However, over time, some of us have grown very sick about the ICC issue. I do not see any value for us, as a House or as a country to keep on referring to the ICC. view
  • 3 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, if you want to know the real value of the ICC, you can only refer to the 4th March elections and see what Kenyans did. It was a verdict against the ICC. view
  • 3 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: If you want to know the truth about the ICC, you can only refer to the cases that were on television and see the evidence they have. My small court in Maralal can do a better job than the ICC. This tells you what kind of an international court we have. If you want to know something about the ICC, look at its signatories. The biggest countries that pretend to do justice, like the United States of America (USA) and China are not signatories to this court. So, what do we need to know about the ICC? We have seen ... view
