  • 5 Oct 2022 in National Assembly: Before the interruption, I was alluding to the fact that the President has given us a guarantee to the rule of law. I am sure the element of corruption has been captured in his Speech. I come from a constituency that practices agriculture. I thank you for coming to my constituency during the campaign time. You are the second Speaker to come to my constituency. Food security is a key aspect in our community. I want to bring to the attention of this House that it has not rained for the last four years after the handshake was held between ... view
  • 5 Oct 2022 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker; and thank you to my people of Buuri Constituency. We will continue working together and enjoying the freedom that has come after the hustler nation has become a reality. Thank you. view
  • 10 May 2022 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I rise to support this Bill, which aims at total recognition of our people who are living with disabilities. It has come at the right time. We, the people who have been endowed with all the parts of our bodies, have been worried because the people who live with disabilities have no Act of Parliament that supports their existence as Kenyan citizens. view
  • 10 May 2022 in National Assembly: There is one thing that worries me quite a lot. At the outset, if you go to public institutions like primary schools, you will not find many children with disabilities. We do not know where they are. The parents do not want to expose them. This Bill will bring in total management of children living with disabilities right from birth all the way to old age. We have a new education curriculum—the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC). It does not put more emphasis on people living with disabilities as they do it to people living normal lives. I support the Bill. ... view

  • 10 May 2022 in National Assembly: a new Government is coming in office. It is our hope and belief that once the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Government takes office, our key responsibility will be to bring up those people who are not being taken care of. People living with disabilities will be a priority to us. We want to uplift them economically, socially and politically. I agree with fellow Members that this is a very important Bill. I urge that once it is presented to the Senate, they should add more value to it. I urge county governments to put more resources and also focus because ... view
  • 10 May 2022 in National Assembly: There is a lot of discrimination, particularly in the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF). In the last recruitment of KDF, they discriminated against women and people living with disabilities. We urge the Government to be at the forefront of ensuring there are equal opportunities for everybody even in the KDF. There is nothing that says that somebody living with disability cannot work in the armed forces. We have very intelligent people in this country who are disabled and their passion is to work in the KDF. So, I urge the Government to take this matter seriously and not to discriminate against ... view
  • 10 May 2022 in National Assembly: The Bill has come at a good time. I hope and believe that its implementation will be fast- tracked. I believe so because I know we are coming back in the 13th Parliament and we will ensure that the Bill is implemented to the letter. view
  • 10 May 2022 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I support. view
  • 23 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support this Bill specifically because it addresses the delivery of services to our communities through county governments. There are two types of grants. One is from the national Government of Kenya that is specifically with county headquarters. The other one is from development partners’ grant which has been classified into 12 items. The grants, from either the national Government or the development partners, are channelled to various essential services in the counties. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can ... view
