  • 30 Apr 2008 in National Assembly: Ahsante sana, Bw.
  • 13 Mar 2008 in National Assembly: Ahsante sana Bw. Spika. Ningependa kuwatolea shukrani Rais Kibaki ... view
  • 13 Mar 2008 in National Assembly: Kamati hiyo imefanya kazi. • 22 Aug 2007 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I wish to take this opportunity to congratulate the Minister and his team for a job well done. But we expect to see more funds allocated to this very important Ministry in the next financial year. As the saying goes, "Water is life". We cannot have a better life if we cannot have clean drinking water. We hope that in the next financial year, more money will be put towards irrigation programmes. Thank you very much, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. view
  • 20 Jun 2007 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I rise to say something about the Budget Speech which was read mid of this month. I have been so concerned about the Youth Enterprise Development Fund (YEDF), which was mooted in the last financial year, that is, 2006/2007. It looked like it was a very good idea, but it has taken very long for those funds to reach the youth. The conditions which were prescribed were very difficult. Youths, all over the country, were being asked, through the financial intermediaries, to produce title deeds. Of course, the youth do not have title ... view

  • 13 Jun 2007 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to reply. I wish to thank all my colleagues who have contributed very actively and they have raised important issues concerning education in Kenya. It is pretty obvious that we are talking about the capacity of universities. What is important to note is that the capacity of the existing universities is only 11,000 students and the people who are qualified are well over 60,000. We can see that if the Government was to give any funds to the University of Nairobi today, certainly, you would not even know ... view
  • 23 May 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to move the following Motion:- THAT, being aware of the important role education plays in the development of any country; noting with grave concern that admission for undergraduate courses at public universities has become extremely competitive and, therefore, thousands of students who have attained minimum qualifications are shut out from university education; taking cognizance of the fact that, students who come from marginal areas have continued to have less access to public universities thereby re-enforcing the marginalization of such areas, this House urges the Government to urgently consider:- (a) putting up more schools ... view
