I want to thank the Leaders of the Majority and Minority and the two Whips for accepting that there is always a better way of doing things. I want to urge this House that, as much as we are pushed by history to become suspicious of each other, it is about time we began to engage as equal partners. That is because all of us are required to provide oversight. view

One, is that people who have been placed in various committees should realize that it is not the committee which is important. Rather, it is the contribution they will make in the committees. We must be passionate about adding value to the business of the committee. For purposes of posterity, make sure that whatever you are doing in a committee, give your best. I want to urge hon. Members not to go to committees and engage in side-shows, just so as to show your colleague that you are better off. view

Let me say that some of the things we are discussing will only come to pass when we sincerely and purposely decide to behave as members of one nation. We should not engage in blame games. When we tell you that you are wrong, you should say that you are sorry about it. Whether I am in the Majority or Minority, a right remains a right and a wrong remains a wrong.
