    "content": "Mr. Speaker, Sir, I rise pursuant to Standing Order No. 48(1) to seek a Statement from the Standing Committee on Health regarding the crisis caused by the decision by the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) to deny cover to COVID-19 patients admitted in private hospitals in the country. In the Statement, the Committee should- (1) Explain the reasons for NHIF refusal to cover patients admitted to private hospitals with COVID-19 and yet the Fund continues to receive monthly contributions from such patients; (2) State the recourse available for members and their beneficiaries in the event of death given that private hospitals usually refuse to release bodies of the deceased patients"
