  • 31 May 2023 in Senate: session was to happen today. However, because of many other reasons, it could not be undertaken. It has been moved to next week. Like I had mentioned, I served in the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC). I know that Parliament is a significant contributor. We fund this particular event from our own accounts as Parliament. I think Sen. Maanzo is one of the co-chairs. I am not sure who serves as the co- chair from the National Assembly for purposes of planning and putting together this event. Therefore, it is important, like I mentioned a few minutes ago, for Members to ... view
  • 31 May 2023 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I thank the colleagues who have contributed to this fairly straight forward Motion. In the 19th Century, there was a German Philosopher called Friedrich Neitzsche. He advanced the theory that came to be known as God is dead. Therefore, a few of his adherence at the university where he taught, wrote a huge mural on the wall that God is Dead, Fredrick Neitzsche. As fate would have it, in the year 1900, he passed on. • 31 May 2023 in Senate: I do not think that, in any way, getting us to pray suggests that there is a dereliction of duty on our part as leaders especially, those that serve in this present administration. Rather, it is an admission that despite all the knowledge that we may have, sometimes there are challenges that are beyond the will and the power of man that only the super natural can solve for us. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, we will take two, three or four at most for prayer. I have attended many of these prayer breakfasts, as national leaders, to reflect on where ... view
  • 30 May 2023 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I welcome the visiting students from Embakasi Girls High School. The school is located in Embakasi Central Constituency and I welcome them to this institution. Young students always get an opportunity to visit us on many afternoons. They learn about the deliberations and how this House transacts its business. It is a few minutes past 2.30 p.m. This House is usually fuller slightly latter in the afternoon. They should not leave with the impression that Senate is normally empty. Our colleagues from the Minority side had a parliamentary group meeting which they are yet to conclude. You ... view
  • 30 May 2023 in Senate: Sen. Dullo, you belong to the Majority side. You are no longer part of the Minority side. Mr. Speaker, Sir, as I welcome the students, I hope they will get full understanding of how Parliament works. For those of you who aspire to one day be Members of Parliament (MPs) or leaders in various industries, this is the place to begin. Take your time and learn. I wish you well in your studies. Be diligent, disciplined and above all dream big and never limit your dreams. view
