  • 4 Oct 2022 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I know we are pressed for time. I would have made arguments to explain why my colleagues, on the minority side, are extremely wrong to imagine that Sen. Ali Roba belongs to their side of the coalition. However, I will stick to only one. The membership of the SBC is determined and set out. Our Standing Order No.190 sets out the membership of this Committee. I did the nomination for Sen. Ali Roba in full consciousness that Kenya Kwanza Coalition includes United Democratic Movement (UDM), the Party that Sen. Ali Roba belongs. Secondly, I wish to direct ... view
  • 4 Oct 2022 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, he is eating into my time with trivialities. I want to point out one final thing. Article 36 of our Constitution provides for freedom of association. Sen. Ali Roba has chosen to associate with Kenya Kwanza Coalition. The Constitution is the supreme law of this land. There is no other law that one can quote anywhere that denies him that right. view

  • 4 Oct 2022 in Senate: Finally, Sen. M. Kajwang’ said that Sen. Ali Roba is married to Azimio-One Kenya Coalition. In Nairobi, for example, there is something called “kukula fare.” If you gift a lady and she accept it, that should not be considered to be consent to full rights of her body. Therefore, the fact that Sen. Ali. Roba went on a date with Azimio-One Kenya Coalition does not mean that he is married to them. He has chosen which side he belongs to. view

  • 21 Jun 2022 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Deputy Speaker. It is quite uplifting listening to the valedictory speeches of our colleagues many of whom have decided to cast their lots elsewhere and choose to serve the people of Kenya in other capacities, and those also who are pitching to make a comeback here. Madam Deputy Speaker, first, I thank God for the opportunity to serve my country. I was thinking while jotting down the few quick things that I am going to say in the next five minutes that, if in the year 2015 you had told me that in 2022, I would be ... view

  • 21 Jun 2022 in Senate: I also appreciate our colleagues, many of whom have had long lustrous careers. Speaking of Sen. Wako; over 40 years in public service. Sen. (Prof) Ongeri, my good friend though young but very long serving in terms of public experience. The good Senator for Vihiga County, Sen. Khaniri. I also appreciate our colleagues who have decided to serve the country in other capacities other than coming back to this House. Madam Deputy Speaker, it was a privilege to serve with the Senate Minority Leader, Sen. Orengo. Although we are on different sides of the political divide, there are many things ... view

  • 21 Jun 2022 in Senate: forward to working with them because they are competent. Some of the best brains you can find in this country are actually staffers of Parliament. Finally, I plead and pray that God willing, when we come back, we will achieve the long serving dream of having an Oversight Fund. Many Senators are not able to answer difficult questions that are asked during campaigns. We are told that we did well in this and that but why did we allow governors to get away with mismanagement of funds? How much can you do with the salary alone? Therefore, I plead with ... view
