  • 26 Feb 2020 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker Sir. I saw Cabinet Secretary (CS) Eugene Wamalwa saying on his Twitter handle that he wants Nairobi citizens to take part in public participation. What are they participating in, yet the decision has already been made? We may agree with the spirit of the particular decision, but there are things that should have been done differently. I feel that, as a House, this discussion will help us to perhaps reflect and see what it is. It appears that during this season of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) and the handshake, I do not know which ... view
  • 25 Feb 2020 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I wish to just make a very small reaction – perhaps in under a minute – to the Communication you have just given. view
  • 25 Feb 2020 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, it is very encouraging to hear the words you gave, especially on the matter, despite the fact that there are no legal timelines on us, as a House, to handle this matter. In the spirit of public good and being seen as an institution that wants the prosperity of our nation, you want us to expedite this issue. view
  • 25 Feb 2020 in Senate: This is a very exciting journey. I am a neighbor of Nakuru County and, therefore, by extension, I would be glad if they are befitted with that status. This is because it means that next on the line is Kericho. After Nakuru is Kericho, before you get to Kisumu; so I know that we should be next on line. view
  • 25 Feb 2020 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, you have to be careful with some of the remarks, because you know Kericho is the town of your in-laws. If I give them the report that you do not think that much of them, I am not sure they will be very happy. view
  • 20 Feb 2020 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. This is a very important issue that has been brought to this House by Sen. Sakaja. For those of us who grew up in this city, this is a very common occurrence. Unfortunately, we have come to accept it as the reality of life for those that live in many of Nairobi City County’s informal settlements. It will be really unfortunate that God has given us – people like Sen. Sakaja and many others – an opportunity to sit in positions of authority and allow the same to continue. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I listened to ... view
  • 20 Feb 2020 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. This is an important Statement that has been brought by our colleague Sen. Khaniri about what is increasingly becoming a wrong attitude by the National Treasury towards our county governments. We will recall that a few months ago, when the issue of pending bills cropped up, many of us questioned the wisdom and the judgement of our colleagues who were quick to jump onto the train and support that we have to ensure that counties pay and that pending bills are reduced. It is our joy and pleasure for counties to pay pending bills. ... view
  • 19 Feb 2020 in Senate: On a Point of Order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I would like to bring to your attention that Sen. Faki and Sen. Madzayo are almost of the same age. Therefore, if Sen. Faki claims something, he does not need to be a scientist. It means that he has confirmed by himself. view
  • 19 Feb 2020 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, they are both my friends, so I know their ages. I also know the kind of delicacies they prefer whenever they travel. view
  • 19 Feb 2020 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I am duly guided. I will try and be extremely brief. I support this Bill that has been done by my good friend, the Senator for Homa Bay County, Sen. M. Kajwang’, and the embodiments of that which he seeks to achieve in this particular Bill. It is very important and I have taken time to read through. It is quite a short but very nicely drafted Bill. Therefore, I have taken time the few minutes that I have been here to reflect and listen on the contributions of fellow colleagues. At the same ... view
