Thank you, Hon. Temporary Chairlady. I support the amendment. We have asked the National Treasury to lower the debt capacity of this country from the 64 per cent it is currently holding. We have given the Government five years to bring it back to 55 per cent, which is the level that we feel our economy can carry. This is a good amendment and I support it. Thank you, Hon. Temporary Chairlady.

Speaker, I beg to move the following Motion: THAT, this House adopts the Report of the Public Debt and Privatisation Committee on its consideration of the 2023 Medium-Term Debt Management Strategy, laid on the Table of the House on Thursday, 9th March 2023 and, pursuant to the provisions of Section 15(4) of the Public Finance Management Act, 2012 and Standing Order 232A (7) and (8)— (a) approves the 2023 Medium-Term Debt Management Strategy; and, (b) makes the Policy and Financial Resolutions contained in the Schedule to the Order Paper.
