  • 14 Jun 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for that indulgence. I beg to give notice of the following Motion: THAT, this House adopts the Report of the Departmental Committee on Land L.R. No. MN/6/1128-1132 and LR No.3666 in Mombasa County, laid on the Table of this House today Wednesday, 14th June 2017. view
  • 2 Mar 2017 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I beg to lay the following Paper on the Table of the House today, 2nd March, 2017: The Report of the Departmental Committee on Lands on the Petition by Mochongoi residents regarding the gazettement and issuance of title deeds in Mochongoi Settlement scheme. view
  • 9 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. This is a matter that has been before the Departmental Committee on Lands of this House. It is a matter that the Committee has interrogated for quite some time now. The Committee has visited the area, but it has been having several twists here and there in the process of our investigations. As we talk today, the Committee received another letter from owners of the Dominion Farms. It was written to us via their lawyers Kaplan and Stratton Advocates. No sooner had we concluded the work on this particular issue, than the issue of sub-judice arose. ... view
  • 9 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I want to thank my senior, Hon. Midiwo, on his interrogation of that issue. I also want to inform him, if he so allows me because he is my friend, that in terms of the new Constitution, any approval by the previous municipal councils or the councillors for that matter from 2010, is null and void. That is because the Constitution does not allow that. I am not pre-empting my report, but it is good that I give you that information. That matter cannot be taken back to when approvals were done by the councils. This is community ... view
  • 9 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: Indeed, Hon. Speaker, today, the foreigners invaded my Committee. Indeed, this is a matter you directed that I was supposed to present a report to the House but, unfortunately, we could not raise quorum for adopting the Report very quickly. But, I have also taken some steps to make sure that the request by the Hon. Member for Murang’a is not in vain. Up to and including the time I was entering this House this afternoon, I was talking to the Deputy County Commissioner, Naivasha, to make sure that the actions that those rogue foreigners want to take should be ... view
  • 9 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: So, I assure the Hon. Member that the land will not be sold. The Deputy County Commissioner has promised me that it will not be done. Soonest, maybe, within the next seven days, we shall be giving the report. But, for now, that land shall not be sold. view
  • 31 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you so much, Hon. Deputy Speaker. Indeed, this matter was raised by Hon. Sabina Chege. view
  • 31 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. Indeed, this matter was raised by Hon. Sabina Chege, Member for Murang’a last week on Thursday. Unfortunately as a Chair, I was not in the House that day because His Excellency was visiting my constituency. Although the Speaker directed that we table the same Report today, as a Committee, we could not have managed to meet over the weekend to adopt the Report so that we can table it in the House. I am, therefore, seeking your indulgence because quite a number of things were happening in between the time the Petition was brought to ... view
  • 31 Jan 2017 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, I want to assure this House that given another extra week, we will table the Report because we have to get more facts about the whole thing. We cannot brush off matters to do with land. Allow me, as a Chair, to apologise to the House that we could not manage to table the Report in good time as the Speaker had directed. I, therefore, seek your indulgence to give us more time - about one week - so that we can interrogate the Cabinet Secretary and Table a Report in this House, which is implementable. view
  • 20 Dec 2016 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I beg to lay the following Paper on the Table of the House today, Tuesday 20th December, 2016. The Report of the Departmental Committee on Lands on the Petition by Ngiiri Market squatters in Mutitu Location, Mbeere North Constituency on ceding of part of Tana and Athi River Development Authority (TARDA) land to Ngiiri Market squatters. view
