  • 17 Feb 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am still not happy with the answer. Could we then say that the Government does not walk the talk? It just talks, but nothing happens! view
  • 3 Dec 2008 in National Assembly: , asked the Minister for Environment and Mineral Resources:- (a) whether he is aware that Lake Victoria, once a resourceful water body and which is a source of livelihood for millions of Kenyans, is now choking with water hyacinth; and, (b) what urgent steps he is taking to rid the lake of this plant and to clean and restore its glory. view
  • 27 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: asked the Minister of State for Provincial Administration and Internal Security:- November 27, 2008 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES 3655 (a) whether he could provide a list of all known tribal militia in the country and indicate the respective regions within which they operate; and, (b) what steps the Government is taking to address security threats posed by these tribal militia in the country. view
  • 27 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I must admit that sometimes Questions take a long time to come to the Floor of the House. This Question was filed sometime back. At the time it was filed, the Parliamentary Committee to investigate this issue had not been established. Perhaps, that is why it is before the House. Nonetheless, I would like to ask a few questions. view
  • 27 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I would like to thank the Assistant Minister for that very detailed answer to the Question. However, I would like to seek a few clarifications. Mr. Speaker, Sir, since these groups were proscribed in 2002, I believe they are illegal. How many of them have been charged for their illegal activities since 2002? view
  • 27 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I do not think the Assistant Minister is answering my question. It is not enough to say that even those who hire these goons will be arrested. I want to know how many people have been arrested and charged because these groups have been operating for a period of time. We all know that they have been very active, particularly during the election time. If there are people behind these groups, who are they? Have they been charged? view
  • 4 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am standing to ask a supplementary question to that Question. view
  • 4 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: With due respect, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to ask a supplementary question, if you will allow me. view
  • 4 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to ask the Minister for Agriculture the following Question by Private Notice. (a) What steps is the Government taking to support cotton farming and development in the same line as coffee and tea farming and to operationalize the Cotton Act Cap.335 which established the Cotton Development Authority? (b) When will the Minister effect the rehabilitation and operationalization of the Kisumu Cotton Mills, to promote cotton processing and marketing as part of the cotton industry development and sustainability? view
  • 4 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am happy to hear that the Cotton Development Authority has been established and also about the amount of money that has been allocated for this development. We do not seem to hear about this Cotton Development Authority. Nobody seems to know a lot about it. Could the Assistant Minister tell us where the headquarters of this organization is, who the managing director is and how many employees are in this organization? Could he also produce the Strategic Plan for 2008/2009? view
