  • 29 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: I support this and urge the Government to create employment, if not they should pay a stipend until the youth get employed by State agencies and private companies. view
  • 28 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I will be very brief as I second this Motion. I would like to inform the House that, so far, Dr. Susan Jemtai Komen is the only female nominee who impressed the Committee and excelled very well. Her answers to most of the questions were very candid and thorough. The nominee comes from the Marakwet Community which we know is a bit marginalised. She is also the first woman from Marakwet to be nominated for appointment to such a senior professional position besides politicians. She has served for 26 years in one institution, that is, ... view
  • 28 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: the best ever to have appeared in front of the Departmental Committee on Defence and Foreign Relations. Therefore, I second and ask the House to approve. view
  • 20 Mar 2018 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, with all due respect to Sen. Sakaja, the issue of teachers and insecurity have been there for long time, but on this one, we do not want just to create employment for others. The issue is: How do we solve the problem on the ground since the teachers have already left? It is how we handle the welfare of the students now and not the teachers have already left. view
  • 14 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I will not take much time. Because of the training I have had in the military, I am normally very brief. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only. Acertified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 14 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: First and foremost, I want to thank His Excellency the President and his deputy for making these appointments. I say this as the vice chairperson of the Pastoralists Parliamentary Group; we are humbled. Out of all nominees for positions of Cabinet Secretaries, seven come from the pastoralists’ communities. view
  • 14 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: Therefore, we appreciate that we contribute to this country. Coming back to this Report, it is very exhaustive. It has covered all areas. I am moved by one nominee called Rashid Muhamed. With his humble background, the President saw it fit to nominate him. I want to remind Kenyans and this House that it is not papers that matter most of the time; it is how you can perform a certain task. We had people with Masters’ degrees and PhDs in the previous Cabinet. They have failed, completely. We know them. They have many papers but are unable to perform. ... view
  • 14 Dec 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me the opportunity. First and foremost, I would like to send my congratulation to the nine EALA members that have just been elected. I want to congratulate the House as well because of the bipartisan approach that we saw today in electing the nine Members. It is my prayer that in future, the House conducts its business in such an approach. One of the nine Members elected to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) is one of my constituents. He is also a former Member of Parliament for Mandera North. He was ... view
  • 14 Dec 2017 in National Assembly: constituents and the former Member of Parliament for Mandera North will represent Kenya in the EALA. He has what it takes. The other point is to wish everybody a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. When we come back, I am sure the House will have a full tray of activities to undertake. Therefore, on my behalf and on behalf of the people of Mandera North, I wish everybody happy festivities. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I thank you for your patience having been here for a long time. I am sure you are also tired but you have been ... view
  • 6 Dec 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I have patiently waited for this opportunity; I came as early as 9.30 a.m. I think next time it is good to follow the queue. First of all, I wish to thank the Mover of the Motion. It is an important Motion. It talks about trees and forests. Currently, Kenya is at 3 per cent forest cover. The minimum should be 10 per cent. So we are far much below the required standard. By bringing this kind of Motion, we are trying to catch up with other parts of the world to ensure that ... view
