Amina Abdalla

Amina has been nominated to the House more than any other politician. Her first employment was in 1993 at GTZ a German government development agency, through which she was involved in rescue work at Daadab Refugee camp in North Eastern Kenya. Her mobilization skills granted her favour with donors, and as a result the World Conservation Union employed her as a regional coordinator. In 2002 she took leave of absence from her work place to campaign for Uhuru Kenyatta, the person she owes her three nominations to parliament. Amina who is an environmental scientist encourages women to invest in political parties and explore avenues of owning them.

  • 27 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Oh, yes, we can extend it to six months because the elections had to be taken to March but the real period of that Cabinet position was only two months. Having said that, this Bill would cure that problem that you serve in an office and you may have just come and answered a few Questions in Parliament and you get an EGH. I want to urge the current President that the current Cabinet Secretaries should not receive EGH awards unless they can show and prove what they have delivered. If the Minister for Energy does not show us that ... view
  • 27 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, it is important. A lot of the problems we have are that people hold national honours and they add them to their names but their conducts are sometimes not worth those positions. This Bill gives us a very good opportunity that if somebody does not act according to his or her title, that title can be revised. However, I am concerned that Article No.29 that says how the members of the public can deny you The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained ... view
  • 27 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: or facilitate the withdrawal of such an honour, does not give a regulation that would then show you that once you are declared a hero, you cannot be seen doing certain things. We need the criteria because we are honouring people in different categories and in some categories some activities could be part of the job description. We would need to give them criteria that should you pass this limit, you would be getting into danger zones and you would be possibly denied your chance to serve. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I want us to also deal with a transitional ... view
  • 21 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I would like to donate a minute to hon. Baiya because he asked for a chance in mother tongue. Then I also want to give hon. Duale, the Member for Dadaab, and hon. Gikaria, because he has been complaining that we have not heard his voice. view
  • 21 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I wish to thank all the Members for their worthy contribution to strengthen this Bill. I am happy to note that most of the issues that were raised have already been dealt with in the amendments that we will be proposing to the House. I just wanted to let the Members know that we have strengthened Parliament’s role in gazettement and degazettement of national parks and the issues raised by hon. Wario will not arise with the amendments that we have proposed. Secondly, I want Members to note that despite the fact that national ... view
  • 21 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: amendments that contradict each other. I really pray that any Member with amendments should join us on Wednesday next week to deal with it. I notice with concern the issue of gender representation in the county committees on conservation and compensation. We will try to do something at the harmonization session. With those remarks, I beg to move. view
  • 20 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, Sir, hon. Simba Arati’s request was on the management wrangles at Tana and Athi River Development Authority (TARDA). A report was done and it was laid on the Table four months ago, but it has not been given time by the House for debate. view
  • 20 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I would like to support this Procedural Motion and I want to urge the Members of the Minority Coalition to appreciate that our current Standing Orders will lead to these Bills which have already been read a first time to collapse. We know this Motion is important, but if we do not conclude these matters, Bills such as the one from my Committee been languishing in this House for 11 years. Do you want it to be in your conscience that you are ones who want to debate Motions that require urging and nudging ... view
  • 20 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: There is nothing constitutional, hon. Wandayi. Your specialty is constitutional matters. view
