  • 27 Feb 2020 in National Assembly: We learnt that consumption trends of coffee are changing everyday and this calls for serious market research to understand what the global coffee market needs. There is an increased trend and need for specialty coffee. When we talk about specialty coffee, this is the Grade A coffee. I can attest to the situation on the ground that the kind of coffee we are producing is of low quality, the reason being our farmers are not getting the guidance and support required. I also feel the confusion has been aggravated by the fact that agriculture is now a devolved function. If ... view
  • 20 Nov 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for the opportunity to also add my voice to this very important and critical Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (Amendment) Bill, 2019. Disaster risk reduction is not a new concept in this country and our education sector. I would like to remind the House that in 2003, the Ministry of Education came up with a Safety Standards Manual for schools in Kenya which was very clear as to what needs to be done in our schools to ensure the safety of our children. There is no way we can talk about provision of quality ... view
  • 18 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I beg to ask the Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development: (i) whether he is aware that the Mangu-Gakoe-Flyover Road (D1315) is in a dilapidated state and has become a major security concern to motorists who are being attacked along the road. (ii) whether he could explain the reasons why the road was degraded from Class C to Class D yet it connects the Counties of Kiambu, Nyandarua and Nakuru, and (iii) what measures the Ministry is putting in place to ensure that the said road is rehabilitated and completed to the required standard within ... view
  • 27 Feb 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. My Question this morning goes to the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government. (a) Is the Cabinet Secretary aware that Gatundu North Sub-County Police Headquarters has been operating without a Sub-County Police Commander from May 2018 to date? (b) When will the National Police Service deploy the Sub-County Police Commander? view

  • 17 Oct 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for this opportunity. I have really waited with bated breath for this opportunity to add my voice in this important Motion that we need to strengthen the rehabilitation schools in our country. I agree with my colleagues that the issues of juvenile delinquency are, of course, triggered by socio-economic status in our homes and community. As we look at this issue, it is a very important matter that we need to address at this time because when we have our students engaging in criminal activities in schools, then we need to get very worried ... view
  • 17 Oct 2018 in National Assembly: also be very cautious of what we will do to ensure that community-based rehabilitation programmes are also strengthened in the community. Why am I saying this? In the community where I come from, a child was never owned by a family but he or she was owned by the community. What this means is that if my child misbehaves in my neighbourhood, my neighbour had the opportunity to discipline this child. For me, even as we try to strengthen the rehabilitation schools, the issue of community-based rehabilitation is very important. I am looking at a situation whereby we can use ... view
  • 25 Apr 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to go on record to support this very important Motion on collection and storage of water systems. I join my colleagues in wishing that this Motion will be acted upon. The Motion is quite timely, bearing in mind that we are currently experiencing a lot of rains. Interestingly, I happened to be in my village on Monday and one elderly man informed me that the last time we experienced such kind of rainfall in this country was in 1991. Of course, we have been experiencing a lot of changes ... view
  • 27 Sep 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to support the Motion which is before this House. I congratulate Members who got the opportunity to join the prestigious Chairperson’s Panel. I want to throw in a word about Hon. Patrick Mariru because I have worked with him in the past at the county assembly. He served as the Speaker of the Laikipia County Assembly. I served and worked with him at the County Assemblies Governing Council. I want to attest that Hon. Patrick Mariru is a great man who has great understanding of the Constitution. I also admired ... view
  • 27 Sep 2017 in National Assembly: I also want to congratulate Hon. Soipan and Hon. Jessica Mbalu. They are representing the women of this country and the women Members in the House. I feel well represented by these honourable ladies. I am sure they will do a great job. I may not really know Hon. Christopher Omulele, but I believe that he will also do a good job. Well done to the Leader of the Majority Party for this Motion and congratulations to the team. Let us work for the people of Kenya. view
