  • 9 Nov 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the Ministry of Education is so far sending children away from school because of lack of fees to the tune of Kshs20,000 for most students. The Kshs20,000 being paid every now and then could be enough to education these students. Why are children sent away from school every now and then, to collect school fees, and yet the Government pays secondary school teachers? What is the money for? view

However, the required amount of Kshs60 million to start a bank is too much for rural people. "Micro" means very small and these institutions should lend money to very small business units. Its aim was to ensure that the road maintenance levy funds are used to carry out roads maintenance in every constituency. However, it has taken too long for the Government to bring a Bill before this House, so that we can implement it. This will enable hon. Members to construct and maintain roads in their constituencies using these funds. If we do not do this, our roads will never be maintained.
