  • 18 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to submit the expenditure estimates of the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation for the Financial Year 2010/2011. Public health is about managing threats to the health of a community and paying special attention to the social context of disease and health. The goal of public health is to improve lives by focusing on preventive or treatment of diseases, surveillance of cases and promotion of healthy behaviour. view
  • 18 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the mandate of the Ministry as defined by the Government in the Presidential Circular No.1 of 2008 covers the following functions: Public Health and Sanitation Policy, preventive and promotive health services, community health services, health education, reproductive health, food quality and hygiene, health inspection and other public health services, quarantine administration, oversight of all sanitation services, preventive health programmes including vector control, national public health laboratories, Government chemists, dispensaries and health centres, Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), Radiation Protection Board and member of KEMSA Board and KMTC Board. view
