  • 4 Jul 2019 in National Assembly: The question of parking fees and other collected tariffs has been a subject that is not transparent. A majority of us are not able to tell how things are transacted at JKIA. There are supremacy battles between KAA and KQ. Their employees have been sucked in. The only way to bring those issues to an end and restore consistency so that the national airline is able to make business is to ensure that we nationalise KQ. We also need to ensure that KCAA is independently funded. It should run its own board of management without interference from people who have ... view
  • 4 Jul 2019 in National Assembly: Allow me to ask the Chair to continue talking to Kenyans. I am one of the complainants. When you fly KQ, you realise that it is the most expensive airline in this region. You will realise that when you fly RwandAir, Emirates and others. That discourages majority of our businessmen from flying KQ. We would like to see these tariffs brought down. We want transparency. They need to challenge us to come up with an Act that would enable KQ to become stronger and maintain its position as the pride of Africa. view

  • 20 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: (Laikipia (CWR), JP): Thank you, Hon. Speaker. Pursuant to Standing Order No.44(2)(c) I wish to request for a Statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security regarding issuance of work permits to foreign nationals. view
  • 20 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, the primary responsibility of the Government of the day is, first and foremost, to the people of Kenya whose interest must be prioritised, protected and advanced before those of any other persons. As a country, we have always been open to foreign investors and expatriates but, at this point in time, I believe that our kindness is being taken advantage of. view
  • 20 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: Kenyans are suffering due to harsh economic times. In this country, unemployment is at all-time high with millions of young people struggling to make ends meet. It is saddening to see our people close their businesses in Nyamakima, Gikomba and other places due to punitive Customs Duty and other operational constraints. It is additionally worrying that some foreign nationals, including some Chinese citizens, have taken over those businesses and are even doing minor businesses, small-scale trades and jobs when our unemployed youth could be doing similar tasks. It is highly disturbing that we have made it very easy for foreigners ... view
  • 20 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, it is against this background that I want to seek a Statement this afternoon from the Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security on the following grounds: (i) a disclosure of number of Chinese nationalities currently in the country and who hold valid permits to work; (ii) clarification on agreements pertaining to trade and labour for foreigners in this country; (iii) why foreigners are finding it easy to set-up and run businesses in this country as opposed to local Kenyans; (iv) bring information on whether there is any existing kitty to aid import and export of trade for ... view
  • 19 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I also want to echo the sentiments of the Hon. Member who has just commented about the human wildlife conflict. This is the case which has been experienced by majority of us from Laikipia, and particularly Laikipia West, where our farmers are never compensated for their crops or even loss of human life. We hope that by passing this Budget in the Committee of Supply, we are going to see a change and that the Ministry concerned will start with immediate effect to compensate people who have lost their lives and people who have ... view
  • 19 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: (Laikipia (CWR), JP): Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I also want to agree that majority of our young people in this country are jobless. Now that we passed the NYS Bill, we look forward to seeing the CS clear all pending bills and sum totals of savings of the young people in the NYS circle. Failure to this, we will agree they want to end up in the conmanship game. We want to see our young people paid the dues they worked for in NYS and see it devolved from Nairobi to mashinani in Laikipia. view
  • 19 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you. I also agree that the Kshs736 million that has been given to the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) is not enough to ensure that the NPRs are given a token, if not a salary. view
