In the upshot, MDGs were for developing countries. However, we came to SDGs and it then moved to all countries regardless of whether they are rich or poor. Therefore, the SDGs are important because we will have the Super Power Countries, including the First World Countries, Developing Countries, Under Developed Countries and Third World Countries sitting at the table and discussing the future of the planet.

There are four dimensions that SDGs want to achieve. One is the people, two is prosperity, three is Planet, which is the Earth; four is Partnership and five is Peace. When you encapsulate the 17 SDGs, it boils to five dimensions. For example, as Sen. (Prof) The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Director, Hansard Services,Senate.

Kamar has said, the issue of poverty looks at the dimension of the people. One agenda is that there should be no poverty across the country or the Globe. Secondly, we should have zero hunger. It is sad that in this day and time, some Kenyans have at this time come from a very serious drought in Africa and even across the World. Then we have good health. I am happy that the Government through the plan of His Excellency the President and the Government wants to roll out Universal Health Coverage (UHC) to ensure that every Kenyan has access ...

facilities and the infrastructure that are there like the expansion of Obuja Health Centre is still a problem, yet there was money that was allocated. When you go to the paediatric section in Kapsabet County Referral Hospital, it is wobbling. When you go to the expansion of Maraba Maternity Wing, it is also wobbling. I went to Chepterwa in Nyayo Ward and it has stalled, and yet the National Government gave money many financial years ago. Can you believe Nandi County has been able to receive over Kshs40 billion since I became the Senator of Nandi in this Republic of ...

Apparently, the millions of litres that come to Nairobi City is not sufficient. You can get drugs and other things in Nairobi City easily than accessing water. Therefore, it is still a challenge. Sanitation in this City is also a challenge. When you go to Mukuru kwa Njenga, Kibera, Mathare and many other slums within this City, there is still a big challenge of sanitation. In line with what the President has on the plan, we are talking about affordable housing. When we have this affordable housing by the President, it will allow the management of access. If you go ...

Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, as we proceed, I request your guidance and direction. Order No.19 is the Prevention of Livestock and Produce Theft Bill (Senate Bills No.12 of 2023), which the owner is yours truly. I need your guidance because when the Bill went to the Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, neither the stakeholders nor I were invited, and I have not seen the committee report. I need your guidance on whether I am allowed to move the Bill when called upon to, or should I wait for stakeholders’ engagement and the committee report before moving it. The tradition ...

Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I thought I should get guidance, so that I proceed. I note the presence of “the Bishop” who has just walked in, the Senate Minority Leader. Apart from praying for the victims of police brutality, they should also pray for the police who were killed and the over 300 ones recuperating. I thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir.

Mr. Speaker, Sir, although I said it on a lighter note, I withdraw and apologise on count number one. On the second issue, having discussed the matter further, I thought it not wise to pursue it because we want unity, peace and harmony along the border. I respectfully, with a lot of humility from the bottom of my heart apologise for the remarks I made that might have been misconstrued against my colleague leaders from the region. Therefore, I withdraw and apologise to the people of Luo Nyanza. I pray that the region becomes the oasis of peace, tranquillity, unity ...
