  • 30 Nov 2022 in Senate: Secondly, Turkana County has received Kshs120 billion for the last 10 years. Where is that money? The Senator for Turkana County should tell us where the money is. We should have approximately five irrigation schemes in Turkana to enhance food sustainability. These counties have become the bastions of corruption. We are disbursing a lot of cash to counties. Sen. (Prof.) Tom Ojienda, SC, can you believe it? In ten years, for example, over Kshs120 billion has been disbursed to the County Government of Turkana yet there is no irrigation scheme to assist the people of Turkana to have food on ... view

  • 30 Nov 2022 in Senate: Turkana. I can deliver my maize to Turkana County within a day. We do not need to import form Mozambique; the way WFP is doing. In that way, we are giving out our foreign exchange because we are buying using the dollar. Why can we not give that money to the local farmer? This House should stand with farmers. My brothers and sisters; Sen. Chute, Sen. Abass, Sen. Lomenen and many other colleagues that come from that region, including yourself, let us support local farmers. If we stand with the farmers and subsidize production over consumption, I can assure you ... view

  • 24 Nov 2022 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I will make a few comments on the three Statements. The first one is on the national issuance of Identity Cards (IDs) that access to Government services is a priority. I urge the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government that the problem we have in this country is the vetting process that is used to deny access to IDs, especially to Kenyans from Northern Kenya. We need to relook on how we do it, so that we create access. When you go to the village, the chiefs say they have the IDs. However, the owners ... view

  • 24 Nov 2022 in Senate: power. Access to power is an economic and social right and it must be given, so that every Kenya gets access to electricity. I thank you for this opportunity. view
  • 24 Nov 2022 in Senate: Sen. (Dr.) Khalwale is one of the ranking Members in this Parliament. He is our leader; maybe he is busy with national duties. However, I know he wanted to say something about this. Besides that, I thank the Vice Chairperson for the Committee of Road, Transport and Housing, Sen. Tobiko for that. I have been waiting and wondering why the Committee of Road, Transport and Housing does not do it suo moto . The collapsing of buildings in this city, Kiambu County and other cities is appalling. We are losing lives and properties. view

  • 24 Nov 2022 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the danger is with the NCA. They must put their house in order. By the time a building is approved, it looks like corruption is walking, sleeping and sleep walking at City Hall here in Nairobi just like in Kiambu County. It behoves that our former colleague, Governor Sakaja must fire people in the planning department. By the time the building is approved to be constructed, it is under the hand and seal of individuals and in the department of physical planning within City Hall just like in Kiambu. Every year, we are hear of buildings ... view
