In the interests of this House and other issues that have been raised, there is a Committee that concerns itself with this and it needs to pick up some of these recommendations going into the future. I know we had agreed to avoid riding on Statements, but kindly allow me to make a comment on this issue because I have similar problems, especially in constituencies that border forests. There are number of forest evictees along the cutlines of Nandi that do not have title deeds. view

• 27 Oct 2022 in Senate: It is worth noting that the new Cabinet Secretary (CS) of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development has been formally sworn in. I agree that it will continue to be a challenge. Title deeds are important to our people. They can be used as collateral when taking loans. • 27 Oct 2022 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. It is very sad that we are discussing this. In Article 230(4)(b) of the Constitution, SRC is mandated to: “advise the national and county governments on the remuneration and benefits of all other public officers.” In this Gazette Notice, the SRC Chairperson decided to remunerate herself. She allocated herself more money for mortgage and increased her salary while our workers and ECD teachers in counties are earning a paltry Kshs10,000. What can you do with Kshs10,000? view
