Under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), one of the key pillars of the bottoms up is to take care of the elderly. We will speak to the powers. I have not heard Presidential candidates because they have not launched their manifesto. I hope that when they launch them they will be able to tell us what they will do for the elderly, vulnerable, the innocent and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs). We need to have a targeted approach on how to assist the vulnerable in society. It is good that Sen. (Dr.) Mwaura, the future Member of Parliament of Ruiru is ...

Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I was just building my case by saying--- I can see my time is spent. As protectors of devolution, we need county governments to create cultural centers that are vibrant. I once went to Kwale County during an official parliamentary visit, and we found Governor Salim Mvurya had built a very good cultural center. I thought that was brilliant. Instead of giving these elderly people cash transfers, these are people with lots of experience; some of them are retired doctors and civil servants in Government. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I rise pursuant to Standing Order No.47 (1) to make a Statement on an issue of general topical concern and national importance, namely; the high cost of food, living and firm inputs in Kenya. Recent surveys indicate that up to 67 per cent of Kenyans believe that the country is headed in the wrong direction. It has also been noted with great concern that the rising cost of food, living and other basic commodities has led to a sharp rise in the cost of living in the country. According to the latest data from the Kenya National ...

The Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader, hon. Musalia Mudavadi, and a member of Kenya Kwanza, recently indicated that fertilizer will be Kshs2500 God willing, if we form the next Government. I also call upon his Excellency the President, Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, to direct the Cabinet Secretary (CS) for National Treasury to work on modalities that will enable the prices of basic commodities, cost of living and expensive farm inputs to come down and cushion Kenyans from the high cost of living currently experienced in the country. That is of course, after the busy schedule that he has today. It ...

This is a very important Bill to those of us who own property or rentals and Kenyans who live on our property will need the protection of the law. The Senate Majority Leader is working very hard to ensure that there is expeditious handling of the Bills that originate from the National Assembly. I wish that the same could be replicated at the National Assembly whenever we have Bills that originate from the Senate. That has been our contention since we moved to court the other time. I hope that the Senate Majority Leader will also ensure that the way ...
