  • 25 Jul 2018 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Is it in order for Sen. Outa and Sen. M. Kajwang' to claim that Sen. Moi is pursuing issues of national interest? They should be honest and say that Sen. Moi is planning to run for president because it seems they are his confidants. view
  • 19 Jul 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I rise to support the Statement read by Sen. (Dr.) Milgo concerning the registration of schools in Bomet County. I agree with my colleague, Sen. Wambua, that we should not use registration of schools as a political tool. In my county, I have a number of schools that are not registered, which compromises the quality of education in this country. We should not deprive our children of quality education as much as they can access free education in this country. How can our children in slums, rural homes and our counties access quality education if ... view
  • 19 Jul 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. On behalf of the great people of Nandi County, I also extend a warm welcome to the students of Kamunyu Primary School to the Senate. I know that most of you have begun dreaming about the future and I hope that this House and the other Government organs will be an inspiration in your journey to becoming the person that you want to be. Wetangula that this is not, in any way, trying to ensure that only one particular tribe is employed in that area. I know that all of us, as Senators, come from areas which harbor multinational companies. The biggest beef they have been having with the locals is about employment. Looking at what is happening in Turkana County over the issue of oil and many other things, it is because there has been no agreement or ... view
  • 17 Jul 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. I rise to support the County Statistics Bill, 2018 and congratulate Sen. Farhiya Haji for this timely Bill. I know most of my colleagues have talked about its importance and timeliness in terms of resource allocation and development planning at the county level. I agree largely because this Constitution is not old enough. I think it might be starting to work after crawling. We still need to do a lot of legwork in ensuring that we put in place the necessary and absolute legislations. Madam Temporary Speaker, I was looking at the comparison of the ... view
