Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir for this opportunity. I also thank Sen. Sakaja who is also my Chairperson in the Committee on Labour and Social Welfare. I think as a Committee, we will treat this matter with the seriousness that it deserves. One, it is very sad that most opportunities that should have be given to our people are being given to the Chinese. Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. I want to talk about the issues of corruption. I know some of us will run for governorship. My good friend from Narok County and many others will run for the governor seat. Sen. Sakaja is smiling; he might not be running for governor, but for president in future. Mr. Speaker, Sir, some of us are young and it is sad that most of the people who have been affected by this fight against contraband goods are young people. In as much we support the Government in the fight against contraband goods in this country; it should not become a licence to stifle people of their success. Some of these fights have been taken a notch higher ...

Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I thank Sen. Mary Seneta for this Statement. I agree with my colleagues that this is a serious matter that should go beyond an ordinary Statement. I hope that it will be referred to the relevant Committee. Since this tragedy happened, I have seen the Senator for Nairobi County, Sen. Sakaja, doing a lot. As a country, we need to move from the era of providing an avenue or field for humanitarian aid. When disasters like the ones that happened in Gikomba The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only. ...
