  • 13 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Thank you, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker. The Assistant Minister has just said that he has already sent out teams to the whole country. Can he be specific and tell us exactly which particular areas those teams were sent and confirm what the success rate was in Central Province? view
  • 7 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, most of the reports we are getting about these markets look like they are just theoretical. Last week, the Acting Minister for Local Government said in this House that Kiriaini Market in Mathioya was complete and was supposed to be opened on 30th May, 2012. Could the Assistant Minister tell this House why this same market in Kiriaini has not been opened up to now? He asserted in this House that the market would be opened on 30th May, 2012. view
  • 29 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to ask the Minister for Local Government the following Question by Private Notice. (a) Is the Minister aware that due to the non-completion of Kiria-ini Market in Mathioya Constituency funded under the Economic Stimulus Programme, goods worth millions of shillings are being damaged by heavy rains since traders are selling them in the open air market? (b) When will the market be completed and commissioned for use? (c) What are the future expansion plans for the market in view of the fact that the market serves traders from the neighbouring constituencies? view
  • 29 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I wish to thank the Minister for the answer he has given about Kiriaini ESP Market. This market was started sometime in July 2009 but it is also good to confirm that it was completed sometimes last year in August. I would like to know from the Minister what has caused the delay of handing over this market to the traders. From his answer, he says that the market should be opened, latest tomorrow. Could he also confirm that he is ready to travel with me to Kiriaini to make sure that the opening and ... view
  • 29 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I had asked specifically when he can accompany me to go to Kiriaini to confirm that the market is open so that he gets first hand information on the status of the market. But what you heard the Minister say is that it is something simple that even an officer can go there. I would still insist that he accompanies me to Kiriaini so that he can get the first hand information but all the same, he said that he is going to construct another market that is going to handle the other bigger number ... view
  • 29 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, this is another point. That is the second question. I just wanted to know from the Minister whether in his second market; the new market, there is a programme for a sewerage system for that area because it has very many people operating around that place. view
  • 23 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, farmers around this area suffered losses because of poor management of the harvest, leading to afflatoxin infection. I remember that sometime back, the Assistant Minister said in this House that they were going to provide equipment or machines to assist in the drying of maize in the various regions of this country. Could the Assistant Minister tell us how far this programme has gone, how many drying machines they have supplied throughout the country, and when they are going to supply the machines for drying maize in Murang’a County? view
  • 17 May 2012 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker; view
  • 17 May 2012 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, the Assistant Minister has told this House that he cannot get any information especially on security matters unless he depends on SMSs from the public. From his written answer, he says that these SMSs will be at a subsidized rate. Why should the Government ask Kenyans to use their money? view
  • 17 May 2012 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, it was just a point of order, but could he clarify whether the SMSs will be free or at a subsidized rate? How much will it cost the Kenyans? view
